New reference method for formaldehyde emission from wood-based materials.
German Prohibition of Chemicals Ordinance has announced DIN EN 16516 as the new reference method for formaldehyde emission from wood-based materials.
This standard will become effective on January 1, 2020 and according to that, formaldehyde emission from coated and uncoated wood-based materials (chipboards, blockboards, veneer boards and fibreboards) must comply with the limit of 0.1 ppm.
The announcement allows the existing DIN EN 717-1 method to be used in parallel with the new method, but requiring the formaldehyde emission level to be no more than 0.05 ppm.
NTL’s resin technologies meet the low formaldehyde emission limits of the new legal market requirements at the most efficient i.e. (high line speed, low glue consumption) & cost effective (less melamine content) manner in the global market.
